Bought the ace3 for my son. My mistake in that I didn’t realise it wouldn’t automatically track exercise, but it doesn’t even measure distance? Just steps? Doesn’t this just make it an expensive pedometer? So extremely disappointed this doesn’t measure something as simple as distance - how ridiculous. Am considering an inspire however as he is under 13, the only option would be to incorrectly register his age. Any other options or way of tracking distance?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @JAFa.
Thank you for your comments.
Our team is constantly working to improve our products and services. Your feedback is highly appreciated.
The Fitbit Ace 3 registers Steps, Hourly Activity progress, Active Minutes and Sleep as stated in the official Fitbit website. There is no alternative to register distance with this device and we don't recommend entering wrong personal information in the Fitbit account. You can check the User Manual here.
Have a nice day.

Thank you for your reply. While I appreciate that it doesn’t state that the device tracks distance - whoever heard of a tracker that doesn’t?
Do you have any recommendation for a device for an 8 year old that does track distance?

Thanks for your question, @JAFa.
At the moment, there is no option to track distance with Fitbit Ace devices. There is a feature suggestion called "Fitbit Child Tracker That Records Distance". You are welcome to vote it and if there is any update, it should be communicated as soon as possible.
See you around.

This thread you posted to vote on is from 2018. So in the last 4 years the ace still hasn't been updated to record distance? How is that helpful?

@Coffeecakes Fitbit can calculate distance for adults because there are stride length equations for adults based on height, with different equations for women and men. I searched and can’t find any equations for children. I don’t have any inside information, but I suspect that this is why Fitbit doesn’t report distance.
