Ace 3 doesn't track distance

This is absolutely hilarious. My son has an Ace 3 and he runs cross country so he asked me how to make it track his distance.

I googled and googled and found nothing, except…

Am I to understand that Fitbit produces and sells a model that does NOT track distance?  Because if it does, I’m not even going to return or exchange this thing I’m going to destroy it with a hammer to ensure nobody else gets bamboozled like this.

And no, I didn’t verify features when we bought the thing. There was not a hint of a doubt in my mind that the thing measured distance. In fact, I was positive that if it does only one thing in the world, that thing would be to track distance traveled.

  • I told my son that if it truly doesn’t track distance, then I am hammering it into the driveway and will have no interest in any Fitbit product whatsoever forever.  I’ll buy him an Apple Watch and pay for monthly service instead.
  • Please, please, tell me this thing track distance. Tell me I’m living in the real world and not the goddamn twilight zone.

Hi @DMM1234.  This thread has an answer from a former moderator that confirms what data is tracked by an Ace 3.  It also has a link to the Ace 3 manual.  It tracks steps, hourly steps, active minutes, and sleep.  It's my understanding that Fitbit designed the Ace series as a fun way to encourage activity.   I understand your frustration.

My only other comment is please don't hammer it into the driveway.  You should dispose of it like hazardous e-waste.
