Adding family/child Ace 3 to closed group

With the recent changes to the Fitbit challenges, trying to find other options with Fitbit. Created a closed group using my parent account, but to my surprise, can’t add my children who each have Ace 3 with family/child accounts. Is there a way to add child accounts to closed groups?
