Alta not supported in Child View

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I am trying to setup my Child account. I’m happy that this feature is now available. However my children have Alta fitbits not Ace Fitbit. Can you please add Alta into this feature as well, or is there a workaround?

@TedHoward have you asked Fitbit.

The thread we are in is simply a conversation between Fitbit users and anything pertaining to Fitbits policy and how they deal with conforming to federal regulations is speculation.

Have you looked into the legal aspect of the regulations, what does a qualified lawyer say?

Luckily they email us all (or at least some of us) your replies before
deleting them.
The only plausible reason is a ham-fisted merging of two problems, the idea
that children shouldn't be concerning themselves with calories burned, and
worry that this can lead to eating disorders, and the fact that children's
data needs handling carefully.

This nonsense is encouraging children and their parents to lie about ages,
and as a result Fitbit are handling a *lot* of data that relates to
children as if those children were adults.

So allowing people to use the devices they already own (because hand me
down tech is great for kids who are more likely to break it anyway),
without lying about children's ages would be by far the best way to
actually follow the legislation.

I suspect that most of my comments have been removed for pointing out to fitbit that they are violating COPPA in spirit because they definitely have a ton of <13yr data in their databases. It's all associated with >13yr profiles but the actual humans are <13yr.

I hadn't thought about eating disorders. I have an Alta HR for my son to help track sleep. It can take him 2 hours to fall asleep.

It has always amused me that deleted replies exist in so many places so aren't exactly gone.

One of my comments was just removed. The title was "Grievances about Moderator Action" I think my post was removed because I said I had a post removed. Which obviously means this will also disappear because I mentioned that a post was deleted

@TedHoward it probably means one of your fellow Fitbit users felt uneasy about your post and flagged it. A moderator probably agreed, I'm surprised you did not receive a pm with the reason for removal.

I'm not sure what your comment has to do with the subject at hand.

The ace is too cutsie for my 10 year old. I'm glad I looked this up. I'm kinda bummed, with the covid going on I wanted to monitor his activity, but I wouldn't be able to get him to wear that.
