Been trying to delete a Kid's Account for 6 months

I havebeen trying to delete a kids account for 6 months.

I have followed the steps numerous times, contacted support numerous times, jumped through hoops, stood on one foot and spun in circles and nothing has worked.

As i'm based in the UK and the data is about a child this is also a breach of UK GDPR regulations, but no one is listening.

Any advice?

Check if you had disabled the receiving of emails (even the one with advertisements). That was the problem i had. Once I got the email from Fitbit and completed the process i disabled them again.

Unfortunately I have also approved the emails numerous times.

The last update I had from them was they had pushed it through from the backend and it would be deleted in 72 hours. Suffice to say 6 days later it was still there. (And to make matters worse they marked the issue resolved so I can’t reply to the issue by email)

This is quite a big privacy violation. If I were in you i would write due to GDPR office and let fitbit know about it. Back something like 6 years ago i had a similar case with Garmin refusing to delete my account and clearly saying they didn't care about privacy rights as they are a US company. Since that day for me Garmin doesn't exist any longer.

Well I opened a new ticket basically asking for my last one to be reopened - which hasn’t happened. I have lost count how many tickets I have opened in the last 6-months

Thanks for getting back to us and for sharing your experience @SunsetRunner.

I understand how frustrating this could be and will try to assist again.

Let's try removing the account from the family account. From your Fitbit account:

  • Tap the profile picture.
  • Tap "My family"
  • Tap and hold the name of the child you want to delete.
  • A menu will appear so tap on "Remove" After tapping on.
  • Follow the instructions.
  • The account should be removed and deleted.

I'll keep an eye on your case and please let me know if these steps worked for you.

Ok, for clarity being asked to repeat the steps I have done many times before and as listed on the numerous tickets I have raised, is going to frustrate me a lot more.

Can I suggest that FitBit actually research the issue before replying with standard responses which are already available on thier website.
