Can I add my child as an adult family member?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

We purchased the Ace 2 for my daughter this summer- of course within a few months, it popped out of the band to be lost.

recently, I decided to upgrade my own tracker because i found a deal on the inspire 2. -and pass on my old inspire- less likely to fall off her wrist.

How do i create an account for my daughter that is not under child (i get that those are only the ace) but is part of a family account that I can track through me as a primary account holder? can i use 1 phone to manage both accounts?

I am far from an expert on family accounts, but I think this is the situation:

I don't think you can do what you are looking for. But if your child is at least 13 (or Fitbit thinks she is), you could create a separate account for her on your phone.  This new account would have to have a different email/Fitbit ID.  To create this other account, you would have to log out of your account in the phone app first, then create the new account.  Then when you have both accounts on your phone, you would have to keep logging out of one account, then logging into the other one.  But you would still have a possible issue of your notifications (texts, etc) going to your daughter's phone.  I get confused about this but there might be a way to prevent this from Notification settings.

Once you had the 2 accounts set up, you could invite daughter's account to join family account, but at that point, I don't think it would serve any purpose.

So in summary, it is not allowed.  You might be able to do some work-around, but with difficulty and complications that are probably not worth the trouble, and also illegal is daughter is under 13.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Ruthiepie and thanks for getting back to us and for your advise @JohnnyRow.

If your child is older than 13 years. Have her complete these steps under kid view in the Fitbit app:

  1. On the Today tab

, tap the message at the top

     Upgrade.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to review Fitbit’s Terms of Service and data and privacy policies.
  3. Enter their email address.
  4. When prompted, verify their email address, and return to the Fitbit app.
  5. Continue to follow the on-screen instructions to enter their account details.
  6. Review Fitbit’s Privacy Policy, and tap I agree.
  7. On the Congratulations screen, tap Got It to see their new Today tab.

If your daughter is younger she will only be able to use Fitbit Ace series trackers until she's old enough to wear other Fitbits.

I hope this information helps.
