Hi @SunsetRunner the Family Account is only for those with a child using the Ace series of devices. Due to laws in various countries, the age for having their own account is 13 (USA) and 16 (most European countries), so your son would need to have the Ace 2 unless you outright lie about his age. If lying about his age, that changes the expected stride and such.

Please open up your other devices to add to a child account.
I would prefer not to have to lie about his age just so he can use the old Charge HR.
Add it as an 'other product'.
The account should be about protecting the child, not about which product he/she can use.

@FluffyChicken in the United States, it's called The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and there is a similar law for European countries. It's not Fitbit making the law, but it is there to protect children.

No it's not it has nothing to do with any laws, I'm not talking Child Protection Laws (UK/EU).
I and other are very very happy to make child accounts.
It is FitBit making 'the law' that only the two ACE series devices can be used with a child account. That is call marketing and their restrictions. There is no law, USA nor EU, to say a VERSA or Charge series cannot be used by a child.
luckily there are other options and many other 'fit' devices now 🙂

Hi @Odyssey13 , nice to see you around! Thank you for your input or information.
@FluffyChicken a warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your Comments.
I just want to jump in and add something !
Fitbit is not creating any law. The Family Account was created to protect the privacy of the minors data! Also for security reasons, where the parents, specifically the guardian can have an overview of the child's information! More about this can be read here.
The Ace and Ace 2 were specifically design to be used by minors to build healthy habits. That is why these are the only devices that can be used with the Family Account. More about the Ace 2 can be read here.
I found this feature suggestion, please have a look, leave your comment and vote, so that our team gets to see how often this is being requested.
Please keep me posted.
