Can I set up an Inspire 3 on a Family account?

Hello,

I am trying to set up a Fitbit Inspire 3 for my child, but I have been unsuccessful so far. We already have a Google Family setup, which I manage through Google Family Link, but I can't find the family group in the Fitbit app and there doesn’t seem to be an option to add it.

The child's device is logged in with their Google account and has the Fitbit app installed. However, when I attempt to pair a new device through the app, I only see the ACE family devices. Unfortunately, we only have the Inspire 3.

What options or workarounds do I have? Can anyone provide advice? I am open to creative solutions.

Thank you!

Hello there @tanyabr, welcome to the Community!

Thank you for taking the time to share your inquiries with us. I'm happy to explain this!

The Inspire 3 isn't compatible with Google Family accounts or child setups. It's for adult use. If you're looking for a Fitbit device that can be used with a child's account, the Fitbit Ace series is the recommended option.

While I understand this is frustrating, there are no official workarounds or any kind of solutions to set up an Inspire 3 as a child's device.

Just bought an inspire 3 for my kiddo since we can't seem to find anything but the minion Ace 3 and she's not ready to upgrade to the smartwatch Google version. My phone acknowledges the smartwatch and asks if I want to set it up but through the app it's only letting me pick one of the four kids aces, this watch won't show up as an option.

I've done the turn the phone off I've done the turn the watch off it's just not giving it as a choice. I used to have an inspired three myself and that one is not connected to the phone or the app anymore so it's not a replacement issue.

This seems to be a problem. I ended up going to the same thing this family did. I understand with Google buying them out they want to get everyone to a smarter watch but not all kids are ready for that.

How do we get the company to realize they cannot just discontinue the previous Fitbit Ace 3 series and we would like more than the minion option.

@Shyanna   You didn't share your child's age, but a child must be 13 and older (even older in some countries) to use an Inspire 3.  The Minions edition is just a special edition of the Ace 3.  It had some Minions clock faces not available on the regular Ace 3.  You should be able to set it up with the Ace 3 option.  Fitbit ended its relationship with the Minions franchise and those clock faces aren't available any more.  I saw posts from parents who wrote that the clock faces disappeared on their existing watches.

The Ace 3 is a "Fitbit" design, not a "Google" design.  It certainly looks like Google went in a different direction.  I don't think there is any going back.  The Ace LTE is a very "gamified" device.  The Ace LTE is designed for age 7 and up.  I don't think I would buy one for a 7 year old.
