Hi, I'm wondering if someone can help as a seem to be going in circles,

Im trying to set up a new ace 3 for my son, have tried various ways but it's not working l, have set up a Google account for him and linked via family link but when I go to create family the account doesn't show

Have also tried to set up directly in the app but then asks me to login as child's Google account but then can't as it's a child account which is linked - it seems like something of massive circular reference! Has anyone managed to navigate this set up successfully!!

Same problem! My son got his from his friends for his bday so I cant return it. Wasted hours today! Very very disappointed. They should stop selling untill this is fixed!

I got it to work! For help I needed to go through support from the Google family Link app, not Fitbit.

The answer was that I need to create him a brand new account for a child UNDER 13. Using an account you've already tried and not succeeded with won't work. You need to set up a brand new child account and make that child under 13.

If that's still not working for you, go to the Family Link app (with the Kite icon) and contact support through there, I'm not sure if they did something on the back end or not, but they actually escalated my question to the next level when they didn't know the answer.

Good luck!

Yay! Congrats! I just got the same directions from the google family link
support too as my son's original account was not a child one it didn't
work. I'm sure they fixed something in the background recently because when
I opened a new child Gmail I swear it didn't work a couple of weeks ago....
anyway everything is working fine now. Crisis and meltdown averted!😊

Exactly , that's the crux of the problem

Useless product

I got it to work. You have to make a new Google child account and it has to be under 13. Do all the supervision stuff and then do a new Fitbit account setting up the ace3

Thank you I used your post to get my son's to work. I'm glad I waited for the fix!

Ours still does not connect. I created a completely new profile from the familylink app and I don't see anything. I don't want to create 5 different email addresses for my son. I just want one to work. Frustrating!

Thank you so much for this. I have now created the account for my son under 13. Question, do I go into the fitbit app with his account or as parent account with child added under family?

All still quite complicated.

I went into the Fitbit app for his account and didn't have to log into mine

Was the new child account created as a managed account within your family
in Family link?

I didn't create it from the family Link app, I created a seperate profile for him on my phone and chose the "set up new account" option from Google. From there I downloaded the Fitbit app on his profile and set it up.

You will need a seperate profile on your phone, or a seperate phone, logged into the child's Google account. From there you download the Fitbit app (in their profile or on their phone) and set up the Fitbit account.

My new child account was created by creating a second profile on my phone, while creating the profile it linked it to mine in family link.

After 3 hours I finally found a solution! My daughters existing email and family account did not work however much I tried.

I downloaded the Fitbit app on my daughters iPad and went to sign in with google. From there I said she didn’t have an account and I set up a new google account and created a new gmail address all from the fit bit app for her

it then took me thru all the settings to approve me as a parent from my gmail login- I needed to have my phone with my gmail account seperate

again all done thru fit bit app and creating new

hope this helps someone as I was about to throw the Fitbit at the wall!

My kids does not have his own device. I am fairly pissed off now I tried to return it but store said no as it is not damaged. It is such a piece of crap. I have created a new family link Gmail profile for 8 year old. It is not visible or addable to my Fitbit account. I am at this 5 hours

Target took my device back, thank God. But after speaking with numerous
customer service support. One finally told me Fitbit is aware of the
problem and are negotiating with Google on new contract agreements and the
problem should be resolved by late September this year. I told them that
it's beyond horrible they don't share this information on their website.

Ok so easy solution that I used.... Find an adult with a Fitbit and the app. They can add your kid/fictional kid with no problems, no google account. It was almost embarrassing how easy it was for my friend to add my kid. While I on the other hand had literally spent a few hours over two days setting up google managed account for my kid and family link ect but it was not visible on Fitbit... Any easy solution... A friendly neighbour. I could never recommend Fitbit after this
