Can the Ace be paired with and synch to a Mac?

ANSWERED

Have tried all kinds of tricks to get the Ace to pair with our Mac running the Fitbit Connect software after setting up the account and connecting it without issue with our iPhone.

This is puzzling given our Flex paired easily and worked fine.

Hints and tips would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance - TB

@SunsetRunner I was able to do a little research within our team and myself. Due to child security, the Ace can only sync with the device that was set up (your iPhone). Therefore, this is why it cannot sync with your Mac computer. I apologize for any inconvenience provided before.

Thank you JuanJo - yes the problem persists.  1) no other Fitbit is in range 2) bluebooth on the phone is off 3) other bluetooth devices can and do connect to the laptop.   It is a MacBook Air - which is relatively new in the last 3 months - running OSX 10.13.6.  I did try to reset the Fitbit at one point as well.  Other hints welcomed.  Thanks - Tony

@SunsetRunner Thank you for getting back! I'd like you to make sure that you are following the setup process as described in this help article. If so, let me know the following details in the meantime: Does your Mac have the Fitbit app installed? Does your Mac include Bluetooth system? What is your phone's model? This info will help me to assist you accordingly.

Hi JuanJo - Here are the answers to you questions - 1) yes the Ace was set up initially to work with my phone and it does connect and replicate with the Fitbit Ace.  2) the Fitbit app is installed on my Mac and does launch.  3) the Mac does have Bluetooth that works - I pair with earbuds and the phone fine 4) I also tried a Fitbit bluetooth USB dongle that I have leftover from my Flex - it does not work with the Ace either.  (screenshot attached) fitbit.png5) the phone is an iPhone X running iOS 11.4.1.

@SunsetRunner Thank you for providing a screenshot of your Mac. This clarified some details to me. Let me explain this to you: The Bluetooth that is built-in your Mac, is no compatible with Fitbit trackers. Therefore a USB dongle is needed if you want to sync your Ace with your computer. You can find this accessory in our web-store. You can still sync your tracker with your mobile device if you don't want to purchase the USB dongle.

Hi JuanJo - FYI - I also have the official bluetooth Fitbit dongle and have tried it as well - without success.  I had noted this as item 4) above.  I am beginning to wonder if Fitbit has tested these with Macs?  or with the dongle?  Thanks - TB

Ah and thank you - and given the Ace has to be tied to phone or tablet first - I can quit banging my head against the keyboard.   BTW - the Ace is an ideal device for a 60 year old kid like me and I figured going in the might be a few nuances.  Thank you for helping sort them out.

Send actually your reply is wrong.

Our fit bit ace for son has never been setup with any device.

But I cannot set it up on a mac. The mac fitbit connect does not support this.

In order to add a child you have to do it on another device fitbit web does not support adding familly, neither does mac.

Even after adding a child omn the mac fitbit connect does not have the option to connect an ace device at all.
