Cannot Add Ace 3 Even Though child is on family account

I have added my 6 year old vcild to my family group. I switch profiles and tried to add the Ace 3 Fitbit. After logging in as his parent and having the device on the charger as instructed, it says something went wrong. An error occurred. And to try again. So utterly frustrated. Please help.
