My kid just got a Charge 3 and I want to set up a child account for her. Buy the problem is that the only options is to choose one of the «kid fit bits». But what should we do when she had another clock? Should we set it up with the wrong product or use the adult account?
I am new to this but I don’t think a child should think about weight or bruning calories. Is this displaying in the kids view? If not I really want her to use kidsview. But will it work if we choose the wrong product?

As you say, it's probably not healthy for kids to see some of the stats that fitbit collects (such as calories). The fitbit Ace / Ace 2 were designed to only provide safe information as was the child account.
Unfortunately, the child account only works with the Ace and the Ace only works with the child account.
You won't be able to setup a Charge 3 with a child account and if you try to set up an adult account for your child it will check the age you specify and even if you put in the wrong date of birth to get round that, it will not filter out the potential harmful data.
Is there any chance of replacing the Charge 3 with an Ace 2?

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately it is to late to exchange it. We should have researched it better before getting her the charge3. But I don’t understand why they don’t make it possible to have the childaccount on all the models. I bet a lot of kids get the «adult» models, some take over there parents clocks or buy used ones. Hope the developers of this products will consider changing this.

The COPPA law ensures that you as parents just have to be able to retrieve all information from your child. That also applies to your own information. You have that responsibility as parents; FITBIT has nothing to do with that. Unfortunately I have already bought a batch 3, but that will not happen again. Ebay, I'm coming.
