I'm very confused on how to connect the device to the app

Hi @Lily-marie  you need to have a Family account so you can set the Ace 2 up for your child. The Ace 2 isn't for adults, as it was made especially for children to be used with an adult monitoring it. You can learn about the Ace 2 here - click to go there.
