Does Fitbit use the date in how it analyzes my daughter's fitness data? If not I guess we can pretend she was born in 1981...

Since I can't change it, I would have to delete it, and then all the data is gone. For some reason my daughter's birthdate year is 1981, which is the year my wife was born and not 2012, the year my daughter was born.

Why does Fitbit not want parent to be able to change birth dates? Mistakes can be made and this seems like an unnecessary penalty

Hi @Sinxay  everything done is based on the physical data entered in our Fitbit account (height, weight, sex, and age) so it would be off. Has your daughter used the device for a long time? I can see not wanting to lose the historical data, but it would still be inaccurate since she's younger than your wife.
