Purchased a Versa watch for my 12 yo and found she can't use it because she is under 13. Google/Fitbit did not put this disclaimer anywhere on the box or pop up window when setting up. FIRST FAIL
Luckily, my child is now 13 and I've removed all guardianship (something I really didn't want to do) on the Google Family Link and she STILL cannot connect her Versa Fitbit! SECOND FAIL
I have combed the community blogs and tried to reset, power-off, delete everything and still it says I am a her guardian on the Fitbit app. THIRD FAIL
There is no way for me to delete her from my Fitbit family account either. I tried both app and desktop (which was even more unhelpful) to remove. Why is there not a simple remove button?
I even removed myself as family/friend from her Fitbit app, but STILL cannot connect versa. It says she can only connect an ACE tracker. FOURTH FAIL
Whoever is running this program should be fired! What a crapshoot. This is literally not rocket science.
It should not be this difficult. And if a parent decides their child is ready for any Fitbit device they should remove all obstacles and allow them to connect, put a disclaimer, and still let a minor be under the guardianship of an account should the parent want this.
After all the requests for help on this very simple issue, I would have expected Google/Fitbit to send a simple update and fix this gross oversight. I'll move to Garmin after this fiasco, unless they send an update soon. And definitely rating one star on app and Fitbit devices because they failed to disclaim this issue with youth accounts.
