My grandsons Ace says error 502. Bad Gateway.

Hi. My grandsons Fitbit Ace says it has an error 502. Bad Gateway. Host error

Is this why I can’t  get the screen showing. The Fitbit is charged and I have pressed the button on the charge. Three intermediate times. Then I tried 5 seconds. Then 8 seconds and nothing worked. I’ve also cleaned the contacts. 

please advise. Thank you.
