I have a young adult niece (age 19) who is special needs under adult care. She lives in another state and would like a fitness tracker as a birthday gift. I would like to know if her age will prevent me from purchasing an Ace and linking it with my account. And then mailing the device to her in another state. She believes she is ready to "track her steps" and I would like to introduce her to her first Fitbit without it being overwhelming. Thank you.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @MyraH. I am sorry for the delayed response.
I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing your concerns about purchasing a Fitbit Ace for your niece who lives in another state. Thank you for your interest. I would like to advise that Fitbit Ace trackers are designed for kids 6 and up. You can create a family and a child account, but it won't let you enter the age older than 13 years. Since your niece lives in another state, she will need to use her device in order to sync the tracker. Please find more information about Fitbit Ace devices in these help articles: How do I set up Fitbit Ace devices? and How do I get started with Fitbit kids devices?
If your niece has a compatible device, you can create a standard Fitbit account and pair another Fitbit device. I recommend checking out our comparison page at https://www.fitbit.com/compare, where you can see at a glance the features that each tracker provides.
If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.
