Syncing an Ace and Charge 3 to the same device

Is there a way to get sync an ace to the iPhone app without switching to my child’s account?  I experience the same poor performance on switching between my account and my sons account that has been noted elsewhere on the forums. I would prefer not have to switch to a child account every time I’m syncing his ace. Since the app seems to recognize the fact that the ace is his device and my charge 3 is my device, why does the app not seem to be able to sync his data in the background?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @TheGeoLupus. I am sorry for the delayed response.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing your concern about the option to sync your son's Ace tracker to the iPhone app without switching to the child’s account. I totally understand how you are feeling as you're experiencing difficulties with switching to Kids' view. I am sorry for the trouble. We’re currently working to resolve it and hope to have a fix soon. Be sure to keep your Fitbit device and app up-to-date to ensure you receive the quickest resolution.

Since you have your Ace and Charge 3 trackers connected to the same device, you must sync each tracker individually. You can confirm the steps to sync your son's Ace tracker here. I appreciate your feedback and suggestion, our team is always working on improving our devices and user experiences, and your comments are always welcome.

If your son has his own phone, the Ace tracker can be connected to his device. If the tracker is paired to your child’s device, it syncs every time your child opens the Fitbit app.

If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.

There are a LOT of steps for syncing, it is extremely frustrating. My 6 year old doesn't have her own phone! To get her information to sync and me to be able to view it I have to:

1) open my Fitbit app

2) View my account and select "My Family"

3) Switch to my child's profile

4) Switch to "kid view"

5) wait on it to spin and spin while it switches to kid view
then SOMETIMES
6) close out my Fitbit app and re-open
7) re-enter my log-in and start over at step 1

THEN once her information is synced and I can view it, I have to go through too many steps to get back to my own profile!
1) click on "account"

2) scroll down to "switch to parent view"

3) RE-ENTER MY DANG PASSWORD
4) wait on it to spin and spin to switch to parent view

5) switch back over to my profile from hers

We went with a Fitbit because it was, in theory, going to be a much simpler process since you advertise on my app setting up a family account. This is a NIGHTMARE so far and we just received it in the mail yesterday. Please fix these issues. It should not be this complicated for a parent to utilize a Fitbit for their young child. We are using it primarily to track her sleep but SHE wants to know how many steps she takes and how active she is, so this process several times a day is just not going to work for us. It's also a ridiculously lengthy process to try and do first thing in the morning every day. I would hate to have to return it, as she is super excited to have a watch "just like mommy's".

I 100% agree with your comments. The process for syncing to a child’s device is a very poor user experience. I Am surprised more parents don’t complain about how complex it is to sync their child’s device. Maybe we are a minority in not allowing a child free access to an internet connected device.

This process is too long and very inconvenient. Please submit an enhancement request to the team developing the app to allow background syncing of devices associated with the child accounts. Fitbit users do not want to have to log in and out of there account to sync with their child’s device.
