Unable to set up my kids Ace 3

My kids each have an iPad and their own Google accounts.

I bought them each an Ace, but when we try to set it up on their devices the system assumes it’s a parent account setting it up and requires that we continue setup on the child’s google account - which is where we were to begin with. Doesn’t seem to matter what age I make them.
Why can’t I just set them up without all this hassle? I don’t know what to do next and am extremely frustrated.

This is on top of my new Inspire3 stopping working after a week, so I’m pretty much ready to send them all back. I thought I was buying a top quality product. Very disappointed.

I'm not an expert on family accounts, but I believe you can't just start by setting up kids accounts.  You have to set up a parents manager account first. You can read more about it here:  https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2346.htm?Highlight=family%20account

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
