"Since you deleted Fitbit from your Google Account, you'll need to sign in again with a new account

I first tried to set up a fitbit Inspire for my son, and the app wouldn't allow it because it was not available in the app as a selection for children under 13. Later, I bought a fitbit Ace 3 kids watch instead, and now I cannot register his google account in the fitbit app. First it said to wait 30 days and try again. Now, after 30 days it says: "Since you deleted Fitbit from your Google Account, you'll need to sign in again with a new account."  When I try to sign in again with a new account, it will only allow me to add a school email account because my son's account is managed under the Google Family Link App. When I try to add my son's school account, the app tells me that the school account will require additional permissions from the school to proceed.  Why is this process so difficult? Is my only option to remove my son's account from Family Link and abandon the use of Family Link in order for him to use a fitbit?

No, although you may need to create a new Google Account for him since his school account is managed by the school. They're free anyways and can be added to Family Link.
