I was reading in this community and find it strangely odd that several people had their Alta HR all die at the same time. Does someone know something I don't know? Thanks.

This is a software update issue, I am hoping that if enough people report it and cause a stir that maybe Fitbit will fix it. I have a feeling that they are trying to get all of us that were on this model into a newer, more expensive model. There is no way that everyone in this thread had an issue at the same time for it not to be caused by a software update. I had glitch w such as it not tracking active minutes or losing steps or dying quickly before it died

My Fitbit Alta HR just died today too. I’ve followed all advice about cleaning etc, plus tried the restart, but nothing is working - I just have a black screen. It is also getting really hot when plugged into the charger. This cannot be coincidence that lots of people are having the same issue at the same time!

My Fitbit Alta HR is outside of Warranty so they only offered me a 35% discount off a new one. 😥 I would rather have my Alta HR. I have a number of bands and also don't like the new styles.

Mine died while on the charger last Monday evening (that would be 8/3 Monday morning EST). I contacted them and they were very helpful. I got to it turn on while attached to the charger but when I took it off it turned off again. But this was only about an hour ago. I'll let it charge all day and try again.

I think I accidentally deleted my reply.

I got it to come back on while attached to the charger but when I took it off to show my husband it died again. That was only about an hour ago so I will try again in a few hours.

I think mine may have died also. Fully charged last night this morning the battery picture. My phone said it was at 100%. Charges it again and it started working but didn’t last the day. Black screen right now, plugged it in again to see what will happen. Very disappointed.

There is a button by the USB that you press 3 times when plugged into a computer.

I tried resetting it and it took about 50 tries, not the 3 it is supposed to take and that seems to be working for now although not sure how long that will last based on everyone else's comments.

For me plugging it into a computer did make a difference, not sure why though.

I plugged it into a computer, it showed me that the battery was low. In 10 minutes it showed it was about 85% full, so I unplugged it and it worked. Within 2 hrs nothing.

Mine did the same thing yesterday! In the morning it was working and I synced to my app. I recall before 2pm yesterday I got notification on my Fitbit that I reached my step goal for the day. Later in the afternoon, probably around 4pm I noticed that my Fitibt screen was completely blank and not responsive. I checked the app and it said it could not find the device. The app showed the battery life at the last sync as medium so I was confused. Later that evening when I got home I connected my Fitbit to the charging cable like I normally do and this time the display flashed switching between the logo and battery icon which I haven't seen it do before. Later that evening before I went to bed I checked on the charge status and the battery icon was almost full and the logo no longer appeared. In the morning I went to grab my Fitbit but it would not turn on. I did a quick search and followed instructions for resetting the device. Did not work so I followed recommendation to contact support. Support pretty much walked me through the exact same thing I already tried several times before. Since the device was not responding and I am out of warranty they said I was in luck as they could offer me a 35% discount code towards my next Fitbit purchase. How infuriating! I just want my current device that I paid good money for to work since it isn't even that old and worked fine yesterday morning/early afternoon. I don't understand how this many people can have the same issue and Fitbit doesn't think there is a problem with their product. I don't expect for this product to last a lifetime but I should not have to replace every 2 years, especially at the prices they charge! I hope they resolve this issue for their customers. I'm definitely not planning to shell out more money for another Fitbit. If I can't get mine resolved I will be buying a different brand.
I also updated to the newest software 2 days ago.
