I was reading in this community and find it strangely odd that several people had their Alta HR all die at the same time. Does someone know something I don't know? Thanks.

Hi can you tell me what you have done with your fit it and is it now working?
I've read about a reboot but not sure how to do it.
Thanks

You can follow the reboot instructions on Fitbits website. No reboots however we fix my issue or many of those who have posted here.
Mine works but won't hold a charge for any linger than a few hours. If you are outside their warranty period, there will be nothing they can/will do.
😥

Same issue for me tonight (13th Aug). Last synced at 10.30pm and then the screens just went crazy flashing from one to the other (still doing it now!) I tried to restart both with it plugged in the wall and in the laptop - neither worked. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app twice - that did nothing either.
Found this thread and went to live chat to report it. Got through pretty quickly but the agent was very cagey, wouldn't respond to any questions about why this could have happened. As mine was out of warranty (3 years old) they very quickly sent me an email - 35% off and then closed the chat!
Not happy at all, have never had any issues with my fitbit til today and I don't like the other models as the straps are too wide for me!

At this rate every will be landfill as it seems as though all the Alta HR Fitbits are dying and no one will need any of this stuff. Get what you can quickly may be worth zip sooner than you think.
I really hope Fitbit is taking note of all these posts. I was offered 35% off yet anything that I was remotely interested in are all back ordered. So fat chance I will buy another Fitbit.

I had a Flex, then Charge HR, now Alta HR. It quit tracking accurately, especially sleep, months ago, and it won't update firmware now, apparently. It also won't update activity on my laptop, and I do not want to have to use my phone for that. I do not live with my phone attached and refuse to do that.
They're trying to force us to buy new ones, sucked in by a 25% discount. Not doing that again. Done.

Hello everyone,
The best answer does not work at all with my Alta HR. Dutch customer service was very friendly, but indicated that the battery was EOL. They offered me a 35% discount on a limited number of models.
I found that my battery issues started exactly the day of the app update to version 3.27.
Does anyone know how to go back to app version 3.26.1?
Maybe that's the solution?

What I don't understand is how so many people had theirs die at the same time?? My battery was fine I would plug it in every other day or so when I took a shower then then everyone's battery pretty much has the same system?? I can understand a slow death of a battery but with so many people having the same exact issue it just seems strange. This is my second fit bit and I loved my Alta but I'm sorry to say I have upgraded to the apple. My first fitbit died with in 6 months, thankfully they replaced for free but that one only lasted about a year. I purchased the Alta and that on only lasted a bit over 2 years... Super bummed.

we have 2 fitbit alta HR. one of them has not been used recently, the other I have been using until this recent software update a few days ago, the display became completely unresponsive.
so i unpaired the used one from my account and connected my spouses unused fitbit. the software update installed and then the device no longer holds a charge for very long. really suspicious that they both start having issues right around the same time and then I see this thread with support posting nonsense they know wont work like cleaning your charging contacts.
this software update reaks of planned obsolescence with artificially low battery life and random device failures to encourage new purchases.

I am having the same issue....I just tried asking about the lifespan of the AltaHR in Chat and got completely vague and unsatisfactory "it depends" answers. How did people get the discount? I, too, started having difficulty just after warranty expired. It seems that this was not an unusual problem. I also had asked via the phone support (which took forever to get through to) and did all the routines...cleaned the contacts, rebooted by pushing the button, etc., but, though it would charge a bit, it again died after a few hours. I would like to have a working HR Fitbit (my One is going strong now for several years, so I had expected better product life). Please advise.
