ALTA users having same dead Alta issue (won't hold a charge) all at the same time? NO Coincidence!

My Alta died on 8/18/2021 for no reason. Thought it was the battery so I put it on the charger. It did nothing for a whole day. The day after that I noticed it was charged. Put it on, went out for a walk, dead again. What is going on that all these ALTA Fitbits are having issues at the same time???? Can NOT be a coincidence! So now what do we all do?!

Hi @bonghi63 It is always sad when a tracker dies. The Alta series have been retired for some years now and sadly more will die as time passes. I don't see anything sinister here - just older electronic devices dying. You need a new tracker.

This happened to me too - I bought this Alta HR 2 years ago because I preferred the model to those available at the time. That’s a crazy short life for a tech device, no? I have clip on pedometers that are 15 years old that still work. If I have to replace the bands every 6 months and replace the whole device every 2 years, it really changes how I compare pricing of new Fitbit’s vs other companies…

Wow mine died on that same day. It was 46% charged and right at 1:00pm it buzzed like I got my step goal and it died. Haven’t been able to revive it.

My Alta HR battery just dropped almost to nothing after 1 day of charging. It is less than

1 year old. I am having so much trouble with it I will be looking for another product when it dies. It is not worth it unfortunately. I liked my first one. However, the band broke on both of them and seems to be a common theme.

I had the same issue! It would be fully charged and then die on me by the end of the day. Doing the restart on the cord (there's a button on the USB cord, press three times within about 5 seconds) restarted the tracker.

Now my issue is that it will randomly turn off and stop tracking steps. It won't turn on when I tap it. I plug it in (to the computer) and it says almost full battery. Take it off and it shows the time, but it is at whatever time it turned off. So then I do a manual sync on the app, to reset the clock on the Fitbit, and all works well for a couple of days. Then repeat.

So frustrating! I have a Charge HR and an Alta HR. Alta HR battery won't hold a charge. The Charge HR clip that you plug the cord into cracked and fell off. Again. (I had already replaced that part once before.) Without the little piece on the back, the cord doesn't stay in place to charge it.

So now using a friend's old Alta (she switched to apple watch) and it's been fine until recently.

So frustrating! Especially when the only answer you ever get from customer service is a link to the "reset" steps (all of which I've done several times), or a coupon for 15-20% off another tracker. I've purchased THREE already! For that price, I should have just bought the apple watch instead. ☹️

That’s exactly what happened yesterday to mine. It was about 40% charged then buzzed like I’d hit my steps for the day then went dead. It won’t charge at all even after I’ve cleaned both it and the charger pins. There’s no life at all in it. Will buy a Garmin next and hope that lasts longer!!
