Alta HR Dying on the Vine

Hello and thank you for your help.

After 3 years of dedicated service, my Alta HR is dying.  I have to restart the tracker almost every hour.  25% of the display is dim.  One of the green LED's is extremely dim and the other is very dim.

Is there any chance of saving this?

Hi @Muskoka_Joe  sounds like your Alta HR is on life support. I have one myself and dread the day it decides to slowly fade away. Three years is a pretty good life span for the Alta series. Having to restart every hour would be a problem for me, since I don't carry my charger with me. Might be time for you to find a new device. Sales should be announced soon, as usually Mother's Day has some sweet deals.

Thank you for your response.  I popped off the front lens and discovered a few drops of water inside so I'm going to disassemble as much as possible, wiggle any connections, put it back together and see what happens.  I also ordered a new battery.  Worst case scenario, I had fun trying.

I will post my results.

Thx again for your help.

Try putting it in a bowl of dry rice to remove the moisture for about two days, then clean everything and charge it up with a good restart. Keep us informed.
