Alta HR Suddenly Stopped Working

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I bought my Fitbit Alta HR March 28, 2018 and on Sunday (April 21, 2019) when it was half-charged it just died and won't turn back on.

I tried using the reset button (pushing three times) but to no avail.  Help?!?

My Fitbit has officially died. After recent issues with it ranging from dimmer display, displaying garbage, shutting down even when fully charged & now not charging so I cannot reset ( had done too many times to count) it is time to discard & not waste time trying to get it to work.

I was lucky as I had it for over 3 yrs. Loved it along with the app.  Support did it best & did offer me a discount for a new one as they could not fix & it was past warranty. Will check it out & see what there is & also look at other brands.

Couldn't agree more! Fitbit offered to give me 25% off a new one - ummm, no. I have had this not even two years and it BROKE, just stopped working. I am not wasting my money on another one just for it to do the same thing. Instead, I spent a little more money and am waiting on my Apple Watch to come in the mail 🙂

Same thing mine just did 2 days ago. It did it again today I plugged into the charger and did the reset. Started charging and display working. Going to let it get a full charge. How long does  the battery last for these watches?

I don’t think It’s a battery issue due to fact it has lot of charge remaining when it switches off, then when you reset it the charge is sitting at sometimes 75%
Fitbit must be aware of this issue

Same thing happened to me after having issues with not recording detailed sleep so per Fitbit they said there was a known issue and said to delete App and reinstall so I did and it worked for exactly two days and now Fitbit Alta HR completely dead as about 10:45 am this morning.   Seems awful strange that everyone’s Fitbit seems to be dying on the same day.  Come on Fitbit!!!! Figure this out and stop forcing people to replace their devices because of your software issues!

Something strange about this I reset it and charged to about 90%. About a
day and a half later it shut off again?????
Anybody have clock time slow by about 2 minutes?

It sure does seem strange about Alta hr having this happening with so many watches. I tried changing the clock face and thoughy it was working again, nope. A bit later it shut down again ? I restarted it again and did not wear it all day. It is still running at this time. Maybe they are overheating ? Will let it sit on the counter for a bit more and see what it does.

Mine has a still constantly swapping switching off
I don’t think it’s overheating, surely it would start up again once removed
Very frustrating and turning out to be useless piece of kit
Disappointed with Fitbit’s correspondence
These are not cheap fitness trackers, high end of market but not high end performance or correspondence from manufacturer

Well it stopped working overnite and never touched it. So I guess it is
not a overheat problem. Think I will check with a computer repair shop
about having a new battery installed? Or if they think that is the problem.
Not sure if the cost will be worth it thou?

Totally agree, I reached o to Fitbit and they offered me 25% off a new one. Ummmm no. It didn’t even last 2 years. Why would I want another one??

Maybe if there was a way to replace the battery but Fitbit says there is
not? I have seen Youtube videos of it being done? It seems logical that is
what the problem is.

Interesting I decided to make sure it is fully charged. I left it on
charger all day and it was not quite 100%. It is now so lets see wjat it
does?

Well I got it charged up to 100 % and it was still working a day later. I started tapping it and it shut off. I think it is what ever controls the display when tapping it. Could that be software or is it the motherboard?

Best Answer
Exactly the same
Tried it so many times with same outcome!
Stopped wearing it now as getting frustrated
Waiting on Fitbit getting back to me

Yeah - and it only started happening recently too. Seems like a lot of people are having the same issue. I reached out to fitbit support but I am out of warranty, so the best they could say is buy a new fitbit. Its weird that a lot of people started getting this when the 1 year warranty is out!

If you live in EU and Fitbit is less than 2 years old, you could try using this to get a refund .... https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/bills/article-1677034/Two-year-warranty-EU-law.html
