Alta HR died today

Hello, I have a Fitbit Alta HR which I like very much but yesterday evening stopped working suddenly. The screen went black and the band didn’t syncronize or register any activity. I tried to restarted it but didn’t work. At a moment started to vibrate continuously while in charger but still didn’t work. Could you help me please?

Thank you,

My Alta died as well.  I have charged for a whole day and nothing...  please advise asap.

Was this a planned outage for Alta's?

I had exactly the same, this morning. I was going to stop my silent alarm and it completely died...and will not charge either. Very suspicious that I an not the only one. Wondering what to do now...

This happened to me about two weeks ago!  So weird. I thought it was because I got it wet but even after putting it into a bowl of rice for over 24 hours, it still doesn’t work.

This happened to me yesterday as well! Or to be clear it didn't die in the literal sense, the screen first started going crazy - flickering between all the screen modes rapidly, which emptied the battery pretty quick. I charged it back to full and now the screen is stuck on showing battery level. I can no longer make it change by tapping it or by adjusting screen settings with the mobile app. I attempted to reset the device multiple times (press the button in charging cable 3 times and disconnecting it) without any luck.

The flickering issue started soon after I used the app and synced manually. I wonder if there was a software update which broke the device. Fitbit app shows firmware version to be 26.26.63.2

Ideas on how to proceed welcome.

My Alta hr has been slowly dieing for the past week. Screen fading and pixels dropping out of watch face. Started each morning when the silent alarm went off that it would buzz and die - needing to be reset on the charger cable - pressing 3 to 10 times to restart. It has now over the past few days stopped working at various times during the day, needing to be restarted - and then this evening whilst on a run upon reaching target steps for day it buzzed and died to be restarted again on the charger cable.

However, it has now recorded 16,230,000 steps rather than 10,000. Would be great to be able to correct that as it will affect averages and trends!

I’ve had it just over 2 years so it’s out of warranty - the cynic in me feels like it’s built in obsolescence with a kill switch to move people onto the newer versions!

Mine died today just shy of 10,000 steps, even though there was at least a 50% charge.  Continued my walk home -- at least another 2000 steps (bummer!) -- and after plugging it in to charge, it came back on and began charging.  Now very wary that this will continue to happen.  It's probably close to two years old, I can't afford a new one right now, but after years of depending on a Fitbit, I can't live without one.  UGH!

Mine just stop working also, after reading all the post, why would this many quit working this week?

Mine stopped earlier this week too.  I thought I'd got it wet and decided to buy a Inspire HR as a replacement.  It arrived today and that doesn't work either.

Hello, this exact thing has happened to me 5+ times in recent weeks.  It gets near the "party" (just shy of 10k) and vibrates and dies.  VERY frustrated - also, same thing - 2+ years for me for this, (5+ years with a Fitbit) and likewise I cannot live without it.  I guess I'll buy an Inspire, but really hate to spend more money with FB !  Good luck to you.

I suppose they are only meant to last 2 years. I like Fitbit the best but this is my second one and they don’t last. Ugh!

Mine died yesterday. First it wouldn't sync with my phone.  Then screen went blank so I thought it might be out of battery and I charged it.  While charging it began flickering rapidly through screen modes. Now is locked on the battery level, showing fully charged. Tried resetting several times, no response. Tried cleaning contacts on both Fitbit and charger.  Tried resetting again. Still no response.  Is there anything else to try?

I did the same. I think we’re at the end of the line.
