Alta HR displays exclamation mark in battery

I picked up my replacement Alta HR today, plugged it in, waited until it had enough charge so I was able to connect it to the app. The app told me that it was fully charged, so I put it on my wrist. Nothing.  I put it back on charge and now it has the exclamation mark in a battery on the screen. I have tried 3 clicks of the restart button on the charger, I have also tried 5 clicks of the restart button, both to no avail.

Knowing it would do nothing, I uninstalled both the device from the App and the App from my phone and then reinstalled the app, now I cannot connect the device to the app. I have also tried turning my Bluetooth off and back on again, also to no avail.

When I originally connected the device, it upgraded to the latest firmware (?), which was 26.63.2.  I am not sure if this is relevant.

Funnily enough, while I was typing this, I was able to reconnect the device to the App.  The device showed a picture of a full battery.  Once I completed the connection, i took it off charge and it would not show anything on the screen.  I put it back on charge and now I have the exclamation point again.

I am unimpressed that I am not able to use the brand new device, some assistance would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Diana
