Alta HR doesn't work and it can't sync with MacBook Air

I went out of town and left charger a home so battery ran down.  I have tried to restart after charging by pressing button on cable three times.  A picture of the full battery is all I get.  Any ideas?  I also have a "!" next to my fitbit icon and Sync Now is gray so I can't try to sync.  Help!!!!  I use my MacBook Air to sync with and not a phone.
