Alta HR has died!

My Alta HR synched yesterday evening and then later on I noticed there was no display on it, just a very faint rectangle where the display should be. It had been fully charged the day before. Took it off and there wasn't the usual green flashing lights from the back. Plugged it in to charge and no response. Not even that faint rectangle. Any ideas? It is elderly for such things, open to it having reached the end of its natural, but don't want to write it off if I don't need to!!

I just had the same problem with my Alta Hr. I bought mine in Sept. 2018 and love mine but just last night the green light suddenly stayed on steady instead of flashing. it didn't shut off. And I tried rebooting by plugging in and re syncing.. there was a brief moment where it seemed like the device was going to sync but then it just went dark. And stayed dark. It has since never woken up and it just gets hot when I charge it so I have to unplug it as I'm afraid it is going to burn up and cause a fire. I am really upset and concerned as this is definitely a fire hazard. If I did leave it plugged in and was unaware of it getting hot, this could be a huge FITBIT/battery issue.         Are other folks finding or hearing of this happening?       Sadly, I will have to get myself a new one.... but how do we safely dispose of the old ones? And can I trust FITBIT - is is worth putting money into another device?
