Alta HR logging sleep when not even wearing tracker

My tracker is logging hours of sleep during the daytime when I’m not even wearing it (long stretches like 8 or 10 hours, but no sleep stages/score). This is in addition to hours at night when I am actually sleeping. This just started two days ago, has never happened before. First time happened immediately after short plane flight, thought it might have something to do with pressure at altitude. But happened again yesterday when not doing anything unusual. Tracker said I was sleeping for 8 hours during the day, when I definitely was not, and as I said, I wasn’t even wearing it during those hours. Seems like a bug, any thoughts?

Hello @hab2109 and welcome to the Community.  The green LEDs that sense heart rate are supposed to turn off when you're not wearing it.  If the lights stay on, light gets reflected back to the sensor.  Your Fitbit analyzes data, whether it spurious or not.

Light is reflected back + your Fitbit isn't moving = you're asleep.
