Alta HR monitor green lights constantly on

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have had this Fitbit since May and until 2 days ago the green light would turn off when not being worn. Now it's on constantly and drains the battery. I have tried to sync it three times with the setting for the HR switched to off or on auto but neither makes a difference. I have had it switched off and tried to start again but still it won't go back to working properly. What else can I try?

I am having the same problem. I had a conversation with someone through fitbit chat help. Nothing you or he said helped. My lights are still on, battery does not last. He is going to get back with me, we will see what he says....

This is the reply I received...

We will be more than happy to assist you.

We apologize for the confussion, after further investigation I have found that the behavior of the lights in the back of your device you can check that information in this article in the helpsite. https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1565/

On regards to the battery draining issue we would like you to take a battery drain test.

As a reminder, the following are some factors that have an impact on battery life and may cause your battery to drain more quickly:

  • Frequently checking the Fitbit app, which syncs your tracker
  • Frequently receiving notifications
  • Frequently checking your stats
  • Using Quick View.

For more information about how to improve battery life for your specific tracker, please refer to the following help article  https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2004 .
If you still believe your battery is not lasting as long as expected, we’d like you to do a battery test to see how long your battery lasts after a full charge. Please do the following:

  1. Disable the features that can impact battery life as described in https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2004
  2. Fully charge your tracker.
  3. Sync your tracker 5-6 times a day.
  4. Wear your tracker until it is fully depleted.

When your battery is completely drained, meaning that your tracker is no longer responsive and you no longer see the low battery indicator, let us know the day you fully charged your tracker and the day it was fully depleted.

With this information, we’ll be able to better research how long your tracker's battery is lasting.

Hopefully this gets you back on track. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Update: The device has moisture inside due to the cheap plastic used to
shield the sensors. The screen will only show the logo when I plug it into
the charger then stays off completely. My stats have been crap because it's
not detecting activity correctly and can't give me sleep details. I need a
new tracker but I don't know if Fitbit will be the brand I stick with.
Hearing people's experiences through this issue makes me doubt Fitbit's
customer loyalty. A discount code isn't a solution for cheap workmanship.

Reading all your comments I feel calling the company will be of no avail. This is my third Fitbit, and I won't be buying another one. What a disappointment. I no longer have faith in this company.

Agreed.  Mine did the same thing.  It is 13 months old.  I contacted support and they basically told me to purchase a new one with the 25% discount.  They said the tracker should last longer than a year, but I must have had a defective one.  Reading the support forums, I’m one of several with the same problem.  I will not be purchasing another Fitbit as I have no desire to replace the device at my expense every year.

I've used the 3 clicks on the button within 4 seconds to reset. Thank worked for an hour. I've tried the hold the button down for 12 seconds and that worked for a day. Then not only was the face dark, battery was dead. I recharged and did the 12 second reset again and my Fitbit Alta HR went crazy...scrolling through the all the icons without me touching it...over and over for a few minutes. I have a video of it. AND only one green light was on and it was solid.  I disconnected the charger, it was good, on my wrist,  for a few hours with one green light, then it wouldn't work again and no green light.

After I did the 12 second reboot and before the craziness, the v# never showed after the Fitbit icon as it usually did.

What's going on???

I had the same problem. Tried everything I could and nothing worked. Called the company and they were less than helpful. They wanted to give me a discount for a new Fitbit with only 25% off. Of course, that didn't work for me, since this was my third Fitbit.
I started to investigate other brands of fitness trackers. I found one on Amazon for less than $40, and it works perfectly. If it breaks in less than a year at least i'm not out 150 bucks. Needless to say, my Fitbit is in the garbage somewhere and I will never buy another one.

I think it's a hopeless situation.  It's 23 months old. A 25% discount on another fitbit won't cut it. Why would I buy again?  I ham investigating a tracker that has sooo much to offer for $50.  Thermofit Tracker Advanced  sounds like my replacement.  Thank you for your reply!

My Alta HR failed similarly on 8/10/2020, well out of warranty. After verifying the accelerated battery drain, a Fitbit representative offered me a one-time 35% discount off a new Fitbit. The offer is good for 30 days, and not applicable to Fitbit Charge 4, Ace and Ace 2, or any Fitbit products that are available for pre-order only. No explanation as to what failed or why.

Best thing i ever did was not use the 35% off again and bought an Apple Watch.

Yeah because Fitbit doesn’t care about their product or the consumer. They know the issue exists. They’ve done nothing to address it beyond trying to extort money from people for more of their subpar product. Buy an Apple Watch. I just got a series 5. I absolutely love it!!!!

Hi,

Further to my original post, I purchased a Fitbit Charge 3, which has also failed! Thankfully it was within the 2 years, so Fitbit provided me with a replacement.

Needless to say, if it fails again outside warranty, I won’t be purchasing another Fitbit!

Interestingly the green lights do seem to be flickering now and the battery is lasting more than a day again. They don't go out when I turn off the Heart Rate monitor. It seems like I can continue to use it in this condition now.
