Alta HR not working / display won't turn on

Last night my fitbit alta HR just died. I had it fully charged up , I went to look at the steps and it was just completely dead. I tried plugging it into the charger and it didn't vibrate like it usually does. I left it there for a while and nothing happened. I tried restarting it by hitting the reset button 3 times within 8 seconds, multiple times, and I don't even get a vibration. I tried hooking it up to my computer directly and nothing happened. Tried resetting it again. Nothing. Still nothing. I've had this Fitbit for about a year and I'm very disappointed that it's no longer working. I don't know what else to do! Please help!

I am having the same issue today as well. Yesterday the LED light would not shut off and were draining the battery. There has been issues for the better part of 2 weeks now. I would say since the last iOS update.  Very disappointing, it was been working wonderfully until now

Hello, I am having the same issue with my Fitbit.  The Alta hr, which I have had for a year, turned off and will not turn back on.  It has been doing this for over 6 months & I have reached out before, on these forums with no solution.  In the past, the Fitbit would normally come back on, after a few days of consistently resetting/charging/trying anything, to get it back on, however this time, it will not even turn on.  I have tried every single suggestion in the troubleshooting guide & nothing will turn on the Fitbit.  The battery was fully charged when it turned off.  Now, when on the charger, there is no vibration to show that it is charging & no battery light to show that it is charging.

I finally gave up. It was obviously a defect in the product because so many people had the same issue. They wouldn’t replace it since I was a few weeks past the warranty. I see that they don’t even make the same model anymore. Gee, I wonder why. I ended up buying a Charge model, which is now just over one year old. If it goes wonky, I am done with Fitbit, but so far, so good.

God is good . . .all the time!

My Alta HR is now acting up. I suspect it won't be long before my alta is dead completely. About every other day I have to reset my device. If the battery gets below 50% the screen will not work. I've had several times where I get to 10,000 steps and in the middle of the fireworks. My alta will shutdown. The monitor will just go black, everything just stops. sometimes when I wake up in the morning it will just be dead and I will have to reset it. When I first got my alta to get a full charge took no longer than 30 mins, now I don't even get a full charge after several hours of charging. I have never had to reset my alta and now I'm resetting my alta several times a day or once every few days. This is very frustrating. Are all year old Fitbits suffering from the same device failure of after a year of use they just stop working? I know that devices are not built like they once were, but to wear out just past 1 year outside of warranty is suspicious.

My previous fitbits lasted much longer than one year.  I’m so disappointed.  I surely won’t spend a couple hundred dollars (between replacement bands, chargers & the actual device) on another Fitbit.  I know quite a few people who have had the same issue.

So I spoke to FitBit Support yesterday.  Apparently it is a hardware issues and it would be more expensive to repair than buy a new one with the discount they offered.   🤔  it was working fine 2 weeks ago.  They have replaced the Alta HR with a new model, and it looks like all my wristbands won't fit the new model.  Quite disappointing.  Might be time to look at an Apple Watch.

How did you get ahold of support?  This is the only way I have been able to get anyone & it’s really not working.  I am replacing 3 fitbits, so I guess we will move on to Apple watches too.  What a disappointment.  😕
