Alta HR screen blank, then cycles through battery, logo, step, clock etc images

Hi. My Alta HR started cycling through the various application images on the screen yesterday whilst we were out walking. Today it "black screened". Attempted to reset using the button on the ISDN plug many, many times and eventually succeeded. It then charged and sync'd fine. On screen tap it showed the usual images OK. Started to wear it and it black screened again. Once more reset after loads of attempts and it is now back to cycling through the logo / clock / steps / sleep images one after the other very rapidly. Anything similar? Any suggestions? Thanks!
