Hi there, @RogP. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issues with your Alta HR. I understand where your concern is coming from.

Please bear in mind that as with other electronic devices, the battery will depend on the features and how often they're used. While this doesn't mean that you shouldn't use them, please take into consideration the conditions that impact your watch's battery.

That being said, I'd recommend to change the clock face to one designed by Fitbit and please confirm if you've followed the tips and recommendations to maximize your watch's battery life described here.

As for the syncing issues, may I know the model of your mobile phone? Please make sure it meets the requirements listed here

In the meantime, please try the following in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and also make sure it's no longer connect to your Fitbit app.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Set up your Fitbit device again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit device.

If you can't get started with your Fitbit device, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements provided in the help article Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?
