Alta HR turning off

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi. My Alta HR just decided to turn off after one and a half years of use. When plugged, battery shows a solid 100% charge, but as soon as it is unplugged it turns off. Already did a reset and went to customer support. Is there any solution to this seemingly solvable problem other than buying a new one (as suggested by customer support)?

Hello and welcome to the Fitbit Community @LFLP

I understand your Alta HR is not staying on if it not plugged in the charger. Restarting the Alta HR was a great troubleshooting step to take. Unfortunately if Fitbit Customer Service deeded that your particular Fitbit was unfixable there is nothing that can be done. I’m really sorry and I know this has to be frustrating. I have an Alta HR as well so I understand. I do wish I could help but sadly I can’t.

Same problem for me. I hadn’t enough storage to down load the latest update on my iPhone and I was sure if I got that sorted maybe my fitbit would work. But after updating my iPhone and charging my fitbit to 100% I wore it for an hour and all seemed well. But then it goes completely blank! Only got it as a gift in 2017 ....Is this their lifespan?

Hello and welcome @Jinx1234

I can’t speak about the “life span” of your Alta HR. I got mine in July of 2018 and so far I’ve experienced zero issues. I’m sure a lot of things come in play when you try to figure in lifestyle, possible dropping, getting it wet, banging it etc. it’s just absolutely hard to tell. I would strongly suggest restarting your Alta HR to see if that helps. If not you should contact Fitbit Customer Support: https://help.fitbit.com/?l=en_US&cu=1&fs=ContactUs

Hello again @Jinx1234

Sometime the button on the charger is a step a Loy of individual forget so I’ll post the proper restarting instructions here:

Here’s how:

  1. Plug your charging cable into a USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display. Your tracker will begin charging.
  3. Press the button on your charging cable 3 times within a few seconds, briefly pausing between presses. The button is on the end of the charging cable that is plugged into your computer. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has restarted.
  4. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable. Now try sync your Alta HR

    😃 Hopefully this helps

Thanks so much for all the advice. I was getting all this happening yesterday when I put the cable into my fitbit. But today it seems to have completely died. No vibrations or not even a flicker! Think it’s finished!! So disappointing but thanks again for your help
