Alta HR won't hold charge at all

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Alta HR is 2 years old and of late, it just won't hold charge for even 2 hours after a full charge. It shows a drained battery all the time and shuts down. No amount of resetting and restarting seems to work. Did anyone have success with replacing the battery or getting it to work again?

This is affecting me as well. My Alta HR was purchased in September of 2018 so is almost 2 years old and just yesterday I started having the same problems as OP. I had charged it overnight, and by 5pm it was out of battery. This morning when I woke up it was completely dead. I cannot restart it, nothing shows up on the screen, but when it is plugged in the device gets warm.

I am having the exact same problem!  I plugged it in and my fitbit got warm so I unplugged it.  I'm going back to my fitbit one because that still works after all these years!  Any suggestions on how to fix fitbit HR would be appreciated.

Mine is only a year old and the exact same thing happened yesterday. Had charged it, then by next evening completely dead and unable to charge or restart. Blank screen. Gets warm while in charger. What is going on?

Mine is about two years old June 2018 purchased Alta hr. Has not been responding to charge s most times over the last few months. Is this planned obsolescence again ? as many things seem to fail after use more n more. So frustrating. Got from Costco. Hope it's not too late to get remedy. No, I didn't pay for additional protection.

The exact same thing is happening to me as well. I purchased my Alta HR about 3 years ago. My Alta HR was working fine until it ran out of battery. I charged over and over but it wouldn't turn on. The screen was just black. When I took it off the charger it was warm too. (Green light not working as well). Can anybody tell me tell me if this is just a defect or what???

Same thing started happening to me yesterday only when mine is plugged in it is flashing back and forth very quickly between the fitbit logo, the time and the charge bar. Like super quick constantly. Tried restarting it and cleaning the sensors. Nothing has worked. Charged last night put on 2am and by 8am it was DEAD.

It won't let me attach a short vid. But it is crazy what its doing.

ANY HELP PLEASE!? purchased summer 2018 from Fitbit.

I contacted Fitbit chat help, and because mine is more than 2 years old there was nothing they could do, but give me 25% off the purchase of a new one.  Seems to me they only last 2 years with daily wear, as my last one stopped working after 2.5 years.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

Yes. I was going to say the same thing. Seems they are probably phasing out certain styles also.

Considering everyones Alta HR started doing this at the same time. It's a ploy.

They sent me a discount also. But for other models. Not the Alta.

And the Alta is what I want since I have multiple new bands to wear with it and they won't fit another tracker!

@Fitbit please fix this. This isn't right.

I should like to purchase the style I want with the discount not the styles you choose.

I'm not sure about the ploy thing. I was shopping for a new one anyway so I
asked for a discount, but they said they'd replace it. So IDK???

Just seems odd that there are a bunch of the Alta's doing the same thing right now. And that particular style is discontinued. Seems like they doing **ahem** to make it start failing. Mines only 2 years old. It shouldn't be doing that.

Also they only gave me a discount code. They can't replace it because it's past warranty. Which is understandable. So if they are replacing yours, you're lucky.

Hi , This seems to be the same problem for me as well. Brought the Alta HR late 2018.. and 3 months back, for no reason - it just won't charge.. Tried the usual cleanup and stuff.

@Fitbit Kindly let us know if there is any support forum to resolve this.

@Joel_W  and @Rae91 how did you get the response from the fitbit Support ?
Did you send them an email (or) someone reached out based on the response in the community..

Appreciate your help

I was given this information when I had a different question about my Alta HR. I called the number.

Reach out to customer support. Their phone number is (877)623-4997, if you're in the USA. The phone number to call from the UK is: 0800 069 8505. Currently phone support seems to be weekdays only. If you're not in the USA or if you prefer an online chat or email, then click for contact options

Nobody from Fitbit has contacted me through the forum or due to the forum postings.

Which to me seems odd. You'd think they'd want to help their customers and give reasonable answers and assistance to the issue at hand that is apparently affecting more than just a handful of people. But whatever...

I actually had this exact same thing happen last summer.  I'm not sure why the issue began, but I let Fitbit know about the problem and since mine was still under warranty it was replaced.  - This is in response to @Rae91 and the rapidly flashing screen.

However, I logged onto this thread because my Fitbit Alta HR is suddenly unable to hold a charge longer than a day or two. Since mine has already been replaced I'm pretty sure they won't replace it a second time.  Anyone successfully had the battery replaced?

Same thing happening here  my Fit bit will not hold a charge. It seems it should last longer for the amount of money you spend. I was also offered a 25% discount but not sure I want another Fitbit that will only last two years. I am researching other products. Anyone have any recommendations?
