Hi @Seemaqw wrist based devices need our arms to be moving to recognize the steps. Some of us have developed the one hand push of strollers or shopping carts, but since you've got a baby, you might want to try something different. You can pop your Alta HR in your pocket or even attach it around the handle of the stroller. You could also manually add steps to your dashboard, but those steps wouldn't count for any challenges you're in.

Fitbit (and basically all wrist-worn trackers) detect steps from the normal swinging of arms while walking. While wrist is held steady as in pushing baby carriage (or shopping cart, or holding hand rail on treadmill), steps are often not detected, though heart rate detection still gives calorie burn and active minutes or zone minutes. If steps are more important to you, you can probably get better step count by putting in pocket, at the expense of losing heart-rate data.
Though not officially recommended by Fitbit, some people have success getting step count, and maybe heart-rate data, by wearing above ankle with a third-party band extender such as can be found on Amazon.
