My Alta HR stopped working suddenly a few days ago. I assumed the battery was dead (although I did not get the low battery notification/email), set it to charge and left it overnight. It came back on, but would only show the battery symbol and exclamation point. (I know the power brick it was connected to is working, as it charged my phone up perfectly the same night.)
I did some reading on the forum, cleaned the contacts on both the charger and the device, and tried charging it from my laptop instead. It will now charge up, and shows the battery as full, but when it is removed from the charger it powers off immediately. If I connect it to the charger again, it shows the battery and exclamation point for a few minutes, and then goes back to showing fully charged. Take it back off the charger, it dies, repeat.
I have restarted it at least 20 times at this point, and while it will restart just fine, that does not fix the issue. I would be grateful for any additional tips on this issue. I have only had it for just over a year, and if this turns out to be the average lifespan for a fitbit device, I will definitely not be purchasing another.
