Alta comes with the ability to set up and receive call, text, and calendar notifications on iOS and Android.

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the Screen Shot 2016-03-08 at 11.29.29 AM.pngcontent of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Alta, please see this help page

  • How do I set up call/text/calendar notifications on Alta?
  1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby!
  3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile Dashboard.
  4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap "Notifications" (iOS) or "Call and Text Notifications (Android) and then turn on call/text/calendar notifications.
  5. To verify that set up was successful, check out the list of Bluetooth connected devices on your mobile device. Your Alta should appear.
  • How do I view call/text/calendar notifications on Alta?

You can view your notifications when they come in by using Quick View or by double-tapping the Alta where the band and tracker meet.

Notes

  • For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App.
  • Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or selected 3rd party app on Android.
  • Windows Phones do not support alerts at this time.

I just paired up my Alta this morning, I have all notifications on. I have an iPhone SE and my alta vibrated for a calendar notification and phone calls, but no text messages are coming through. What do I need to do differently?

Erick, had anyone say theirs has worked fine for weeks then suddenly the text msg portion stops? I have the Alta, it had received calendar and text notifications fine for weeks but tonight the text portion sudenly stopped working. Oddly enough, I noticed it when trying to show my daighter how to view texts on hers- she has an android device also, and the Alta, but her text just shows "new message", nothign more. I've reset both devices, etc etc but no luck.

Annoying as hades.

I am only  working with a computer not any phone or anything..Reinstalled the alta a few days a go and it synced for one day only...then quit. no more syncing for the last few days ....I am so disappointed and shudder at having to tell my friend that she bought me a dud..

What a pitty that it shows only SMS and not Whatsapp messages. I guess nowadays almost everyone is using this rather than the oldschool SMS. I just bought it because of the message feature and am pretty disappointed. Do you think there's gonna be like an update for Whatsapp messages in the future?

I have had my Alta for a week now. I set it up on my iPhone 6 Plus to receive text, call, and calendar notifications and it was working just fine until today.

I got in the shower and immediately remembered to take it off, so it got a tiny bit wet, but no more than it would if I got caught in the rain briefly.

I made sure that my notification settings were on.

I disconnected and reconnected the bluetooth.

I even removed the Alta and then added it again.

I am not receiving any notifications. The only thing I haven't tried is restarting the tracker as I am unable to since I am at work.

I was getting them before so I'm not sure why I am not getting them any longer.

I've had my Alta for a couple months now and it worked perfectly at first but now the text notifications have stopped coming through. The Alta vibrates when I receive text messages but the time is the only thing that shows up on the Alta when I do quick view or the double tap. I haven't changed the settings at all either. Phone call notifications come through just fine still.

Also, it's not a big issue at all but just something new that I've noticed - there never used to be a dotted 0 (zero) when the hour wasn't a double digit number. Is this the same for everyone?

4 and half seconds to read my time/notifications extra??? Come on guys, please adjust so the time stays on the screen for at least 10 seconds. I know it becomes a battery usage issue. But it's a bloody race against the clock ( no pun intended) to read things on here.

I am I business professional that wears long sleeve business shirts. If I get a notification, by the time I have rolled my sleeve up to check - it's gone, thus it becomes a nice braclet only.

We're supposed to be pushing ourselves to walk, run and exercise faster, but at least let us read the time... Great product otherwise. Thumbs up to your R&D team.

@JessicaHB @Tracerman @autumn88 @Scruggsy10 I recommend trying out the troubleshooting suggestions here. Keep me posted how that goes.

@Tracerman As for the Android "New Message" on the device, I recommend checking out the troubleshoot here. That should help your daughter get back on track.

@Shellory Glad to hear that a simple restart of the tracker and phone helped out.

@whatnow I recommend giving these tips a try. Keep me posted if that helps you out.

@Gpe I recommend voting for this existing idea for Whatsapp messages in our Feature Request board. the more votes the idea gets, the more steam to push it to our product team for implementation in future releases.

@Scruggsy10 The dotted zero is a design change that was implemented in the latest firmware release. You can check out my previous response about it here.

@debiojesse When you receive the vibration for a notification you must interact with the Alta for it to illuminate the screen.

@Rhinonossarous I suggest creating an idea within our Feature Request board and also voting for it. The more votes it gets, the more likely it is to be considered for implementation a future release.

@Tracerman The changes that will be made will be in the messaging app from your phone settings not the tracker so it should work. Let me know how it goes.

@Sinda At what part in the setup process do you get stuck at? Do you get any type of error messages?

@Jen425 I recommend restarting the Alta and also trying out these troubleshooting tips. Let me know what happens.

@debiojesse What is the name of the app that you're using for messages on your phone? Can you share a screenshot of the app along with the notifications settings in the Fitbit app? That will be super useful in helping you troubleshoot further. Thanks in advance!

Android users, there is an app named "Fit notifications" in Google play, its free. It lets fitbit Surge, Blaze and Alta recive notifications from all the apps you got on your phone. 👍

I have my Alta set up with my Messages+. I have Verizon, and my messages ALWAYS show after the contact name.

However...

I am receiving 4 to 12 alerts on my Alta for ONE text message on my Android Note 4. It recently did this after a Fitbit Firmware update. I called Fitbit and they only spewed their script about alerts. Nothing helpful.

Anyone else have this issue? How did you fix it?

- I have hard restarted my fitbit multiple times

- I updated my OS and my firmware

- I rebooted my phone (and Alta again)

- I've unpaired and repaired my Alta

Thanks

-Sherry
