Alta Notifications

Alta comes with the ability to set up and receive call, text, and calendar notifications on iOS and Android.

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Alta, please see this help page. 

• How do I set up call/text/calendar notifications on Alta? 

1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices. 
2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby!
3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile Dashboard.
4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap "Notifications" (iOS) or "Call and Text Notifications (Android) and then turn on call/text/calendar notifications.
5. To verify that set up was successful, check out the list of Bluetooth connected devices on your mobile device. Your Alta should appear.

• How do I view call/text/calendar notifications on Alta?

You can view your notifications when they come in by using Quick View or by double-tapping the Alta where the band and tracker meet.

Notes: 

• For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App. 
• Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or selected 3^rd party app on Android. 
• Windows Phones do not support alerts at this time.

My alta receives call and calendar notifications, but it quit receiving text notifications!  I've called fitbit support and they can't figure it out either!  It's only 6 months old and it should still be working well!

The very same thing has happened to me about a week ago.  I've tried restarting many times and I've done all the trouble shooting tips from the fitbit technician I called.  Calls and calendar notifications work fine, just not text notifications!  So frustrating!

I just purchased an Alta yesterday and I'm having trouble with this. My Alta is properly paired with my iPhone 7 Plus, notifications turned on in the mobile app and DND is off. I do not receive any calendar notifications, felt a vibration while I received a call but nothing on the display, and intermittently receive text notifications- either one vibration and no display, no vibration and I can view the display when I tap the device, or no notification at all. What is the problem and how do I fix it?

When I first purchased my alta I was able to read texts and now it only shows image have a new message no longer.from whom or.any of the content.  

same with calendar notifications.

can anyone help me or do I need to exchange this at the store.

So bad windows phone do not support  a windows fitness device. I really hate IOS and Android systems. I'm  a microsoft fan. SO bad I bought the Alta nad can't have my text and call notifications on my windows phone. I really rather keep my flex and return my Alta

My Alta is not notifying me about messages. I am using a nexus 6p. Call notification do work. I have tried basic troubleshooting but nothing has worked so far. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem only my Alta just scrolls, Text Message.., no other details. And all used to work swimingly. (Android os, galaxy 4s or 5, not sure)

When I spoke to fitbit a few days ago they stated engineering was working

I'm having trouble difficulties actually setting up notifications on the app. When I tap on the notifications tab, nothing happens except for the loading wheel that appears. I have tried waiting and trying again but it doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong?

I am unable to get calendar and text notifications on my iPhone.  I've tried the resets, bit the fit bit and restarting my phone. I've also turn Bluetooth off and o and notifications in the app off and on.  I have only gotten phone call notifications and nothing else.  Help!

Do notifications still sync if phone is locked?

I still haven't been able to gets text or calendar notifications and now I'm not getting call notifications.  I've tried all the things suggested my Fitbit.  Does Fitbit even care that heir product doesn't function as advertised?

Thank you Erick, but I can't afford to change my mobile phone, as It is less than a year old. And carrying my computer around to get notifications onto my Fitbit Alta is a little far fetched!!!!!! I have now been waiting since September to get notifications onto my Alta from my Huawei p8 lite mobile.    Just befor Christmas I received notification of 2 messages within 10 minutes of each other on my Alta but that was it!!!! Just to get me exited, NOTHING SINCE, but it shows it can be done. So what has happened please.

In the meantime, I suggest using an alternative supported mobile device listed here or using a different device such as a computer in order to sync.

I bought an Alta for my girlfriend and she can not get text on it. Only a smal test icon but no message. I chatted with support and they said it was a known issue and they would check into it. Give them a few days and try again.. They gave me an Tracking Number so I'll give them a few days. If not fixed then it's going back. No text message is a deal breaker.

I have an iphone and the fact that they KNOW text notifications don't work yet continue to advertise that they do is borderline fraudulent.  I am currently not getting any notications which is why I bought the darn thing to begin with.

I am going to call them Tomorrow and try to find out what the real story is. It seems like many proiple are haveing the same issue.. They gave me a timeline of two days for a fix but experience says that is a put off.. We'll see.
