I have a Fitbit Alta that I hadn't been using in a couple months as I had been using my Flex 2 instead (doing a lot of swimming so it was just easier to use that one). Now that I have tried using it again it keeps shutting down on me, happening at least once a day. It is usually around 3/4 battery life remaining when it shuts down so it doesn't appear to be a battery life issue specifically. The only way to turn it back on is to connect it to the charger again (where it still shows that around 75% of the battery power is there).
I have tried a restart using the charger and no success. Also left it charging overnight in case it was some sort of a false charge but no luck there either, maybe lasted a bit longer that day but then still shut down randomly at one point. Has anyone had a similar situation and been able to fix it?

I am also having this issue and have restarted with no success. Has anyone been provided with a solution by customer service for this issue?

I’m having the same issue, when I take my Alta off to shower it won’t respond again until I plug it in. The battery is not dead, just will not respond or turn on. Once plugged back in, it will work until I take it off the next time, then the same thing happens.
I contacted customer support and they had me check the charging port and then do a restart. It did not correct the problem.
They told me it is out of warranty so they can’t replace it, however they want me to send mine back to them and then they will send me a discount code to purchase a new one. They won’t tell me what the discount amount will be until after they look at mine. I told them forget it, why do I have to send mine back if they are only sending a discount code (for an unknown amount) for me to have to purchase something else. Mine is 1 1/2 yrs old, I shouldn’t have to buy a new one already.

Hi Judy, I’m have the exact same problem. Did they give you any resolution? Mine started doing this about 2 weeks ago and happens once every few days.
Thanks!

My Alta fitbit is doing the same thing that several other users have reported. It stops every time I take it off for a shower. It also stops during the day randomly. I have to check it quite often because I miss out on steps and activity. Very frustrating! I have only been using it for a few months. You should be able to tell I am having a problem by my log. Yes, I have tried the restart procedure. Why are so many users having this problem with an Alta Fitbit tracker? We really need a solution, and not be forced to consider buying another tracker. Thank you!

I’m having the exact same problem. Mine shuts down as soon as I take it off the charger though. I don’t get to use it at all. And it’s constantly on 75%. My daughter had a Fitbit that she wasn’t using so I decided to try that one. It did the exact same thing. So now I have two Fitbits that are completely useless. Does anyone have a solution?

I just started having the same issue. Fitbit Alta is fully charged, worn daily, keeps shutting off. I have reset it 4 or 5 times and it immediately shuts off again. I reset it laat night again and let i charge overnight. Took it off the charger this morning, fully charged, it shut off in less than 30 mins.

Hi, I’m experiencing the same issue with my Alta and restarting it has not helped.

I called Fitbit support for help. They instructed me to do all the things I had already done. (Clean the connections with alcohol, try plugging in, resetting, unplugging.) Nothing worked so they checked my warranty (obviously it is out because Ive had it over a year). They offered me 35% off a new one. I told them that was crazy for how much these things cost and they die so quickly. This is my second fitbit death.

So, here it is, almost three years later and I am having the same problem. It has gotten worse. I used to have to charge it every other day; now it's once or twice a day, always at 75 percent. Actually, it's been going on for almost two years and I've just dealt with it, until someone just suggested that I reach out to the Fitbit Board.
David, what do you suggest? And yes, I have done the restart.
