Alta display stuck on charging

My fitbit alta will connect to my app, say it's fully charged on the app, but doesn't vibrate when I connect it to a charger. It is now stuck on the charge icon when I take it off the charger. It will scroll through all the other options, but the battery screen still looks like it would if it was charging. Then it dies within a few hours. I know it's not the charger, I tried a friend's fitbit on the same charger and it worked just fine. I've tried resetting it multiple times by plugging it in and clicking the button on the charger 3 times w/in 8 seconds, but no luck. How do I fix this??

Hello @mel_25 thank you for bringing this to my attention. I'd like to give you a warm welcome to our Fitbit Community! I'm here to give you a hand.

First, let me appreciate your time and patience at the moment you tried to restart your device and borrowing a friend's charging cable. Seems completely odd that your device's display shows that's charging when it's not. That said, since it's not holding charge neither, I'd like to let you know that our Alta HR was designed to last 5 days but the battery life also depends on how frequently you use all of it’s features. I recommend you to turn off all the features that you don’t use and check this help article for more tips and recommendations about battery life performance.

Regarding the battery charging icon, can you please change your Alta HR clockface and then attempt once again a restart process on your Fitbit? Let me know if this works.

I'll be looking to your reply if further assistance is needed Smiley Happy

Hi @LoriBAllen, welcome aboard.

Thanks for your post. To change the clock face of your Alta HR please check the information that's specified on our help article: How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device? and follow the steps that are specified there.

Keep me posted.

Okay, I've cleaned the contacts twice - once with water and once with alcohol. Restarted three times (once before cleaning, and again after each one). Switched the clock face and did a synch. The change did register, but my Alta is *still* claiming it's "charging" when it's over an arm's length away from the cord. When it *is* on the charger, it hasn't progressed past 75% charge in over five hours.

Now what?
