Alta displaying only exclamtion symbol in a battery symbol

As of about 6 hours ago my Alta will only display an exclamation point in side a battery symbol. It's not a low battery, and there is not update notification on my app to update, but it is still counting my steps. please help.

Mine is doing this also. My app tells me the battery is full, and I've just run the update but when it's on the charger it only shows the exclamation mark and the battery symbol....

@Bellebtrfly Thanks for joining our Fitbit Community! It seems that this issue can be fixed by restarting your Fitbit Alta as described in Melissa's post. After restarting your tracker, put your tracker on the charger and check out if the issue persists.

@Amandasz It's good to see you here! I noticed that you posted in another thread and I answered to your question. Pretty much I advised the same troubleshooting as I did above in this thread.

the pushing the small button on the charger is not doing a thing.  what does the exclamation point in battery symbol even mean?
