Alta hr wont connect to bluetooth

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

After collecting my new alta hr today I'm disappointed to find it won't connect to my Bluetooth.  I have previously had a charge hr and flex and had no issues connecting either of these with initial set up. So far I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, turned my phone off and on again, turned Bluetooth on and off again but no luck so far.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks for any advice

Active minutes are not necessarily daily exercise. That is from the exercise tile, not the active minutes one. Exercise is recognised pieces of activity like a run or a walk, a swim or a bike ride. Active minutes are the minutes you spens above a certain level of exertion which may or may nor be part of an activity.

Active minutes are not counted as daily exercise. As far as Bluetooth goes I don't know what to say, my lpad syncs as does - my phone doesn't

Hi!

I reset mine (plug it in to the charger and there's a small button on the charger which you press four times) and it works fine now. It has a few moments every now and then so I have to keep resetting it but apart from that; all is well!

My Fitbit alta hr synced to my Surface Pro without any problems for the first month. Now it is saying the Bluetooth is turned off on the Fitbit. How do I turn it back on? Thanks

You cant turn it on or off on your tracker. Try restarting it. Do it at least three times and see if that fixes it. Let us know.

Good info Ed, although I had the opposite problem. My wife insisted she ordered an Alta HR from QVC, but when I tried all the steps to get it to sync, and setup, nothing worked except the steps I outlined below, for anybody else that has a similar problem.

Won't sync on Iphone, but will on Windows using dongle. Step by Step instructions:

  1. Connect Tracker to PC using USB cable.
  2. Connect USB dongle to another USB port on laptop to connect using Bluetooth.
  3. Download and install FitBit for Web on PC, and setup account online, or login if account setup.
  4. Then start Web App, and follow on screen instructions.
  5. When it asks what Tracker, try selecting Alta instead of Alta HR.
  6. When it syncs and makes a connection it may update the firmware in the Tracker (mine went from version 21.21.40.19 to 21.21.40.02 after 10 min update. You can force it show firmware on reboot of tracker by pressing button on USB cable 3 times within 4 seconds of plugging in or turning on).
  7. Once firmware was updated, then I disconnected dongle and USB charger cable from my laptop
  8. Then enabled Bluetooth on my iPhone.
  9. Then in Apps download and install FitBit App for Iphone, if not installed already.
  10. Start up App. As soon as I logged in, it went to Dashboard and showed my Alta (synced and then connected).

I hope this helps, since I too spent 4 frustrating hours and even involved Fitbit tech support on chat session. And I'm a wireless engineer! I think they need better diagnostic tools to tell you what you have with a wired connection (USB) and not just rely on wireless / Bluetooth only connection! IMHO..

Try disconnecting and then reconnecting. Cheers

I've done that. I guess my phone is NOT compatible even though it's on the list of compatible devices. Fitbit support says they will update the list. So that's nice I have a nice new not compatible device. Feeling very angry and disappointed.

Hi everyone! Great to see you in the Fitbit Community Forums! 🙂

Thanks a lot for what you've tried to get it to work and I'm sorry to hear that your trackers are not syncing correctly for some of you.

I'd like to help you out with this, so there are a few things to try here.

First, try to restart your tracker one more time. You can easily do this by clipping your tracker to the charger and plugging the charger to a USB port on your computer or a wall charger. Then, Press the button on your charging cable three times within four seconds and your tracker should vibrate and show the Fitbit logo. This will make your tracker to reboot.

After this, remove the Bluetooth bond between your tracker and your phone. (Just in case, it's good to check you're using a compatible device for syncing. See the list of compatible devices here) For this, go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone. On your connected devices, look for your tracker. Tap on it, then choose the option that says "Forget this device".

Then, attempt to set up your tracker as a new device. For this, go to the Account section at the top right corner on the Fitbit app and select the option that says "Set up a new device". Follow the on-screen instructions and once you're done, your tracker should be syncing without a problem.

Hope this helps and please, let me know if you need anything else!
