Alta shows the display when hooked up to the charger; 100% charged, but when I disconnect it from the charger and put it on, the display is blank. Any suggestions?

Hi, @MarthaV , welcome to the forums!  The Alta is now quite an old device in electronic terms.  As I am sure you are aware, all rechargeable batteries have a limited life span and it is possible that your Alta has come to the end of its life.

It is always worth trying the restart procedure -  plug the Alta in to charge as normal, and while it is still plugged in and charging, press the button on your charging cable 3 times within a few seconds, briefly pausing between presses. The button is on the end of the charging cable that is plugged into your computer. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has restarted.  You can then unplug it from the charger.

If the restart procedure does not fix the issue then it is likely that your Alta will no longer function properly.

If you are considering an upgrade, I can very much recommend the Inspire series, which was the original upgrade on the Alta, and I very much prefer it.  The newest model is the Inspire 3 which has a colour screen.  If you do decide to upgrade it is worth giving Fitbit Customer Support a call and let them know that your Alta is no longer working.  I know that sometimes they are able to offer a significant discount to loyal customers looking to upgrade.

I am sorry not to have better news for you concerning your Alta.

Thank you, @Julia_G. You've confirmed what I knew deep in my soul... My dear Alta has lived a good life. Fortunately, for me, "Santa" was listening when I talked about getting a new Fit Bit and delivered early!!! Again, thank you for confirming that the Inspire 3 was a good replacement choice. 😁 So far, it's working out very nicely. Wish I'd contacted Support before Santa got the new device to see if they could offered a better price, but it's still a reasonable cost for the product. Love my Fit Bit!!!

Have a wonderful holiday and happy marathoning in 2023!!!
