I left my Alta on a hot surface and it died so I plugged it in and it turns out if just shut down, if you pug it into the charger press the button that shows how far along youth battery is and it should turn on and then too can unplug the Alta and it should be fine!

My alta just overheated whilst I was at the beach. It has now cooled down but won't turn back on. Do I just need to plug it in?

After doing a reset, (pressing button on USB end whilst plugged into PC port and the Alta) if it's still not working, try unplugging the usb from the computer and then re plug in. This seemed to work for me after a reset that resulted in nothing. If the Alta is still hot, allow it to cool for a little while first before resetting as it will not reset if it is still too hot obviously.

On my second Alta. First, one overheated on wrist and never recovered after less than 6 months. Now I have the replacement, which now did the same thing after less than 60 days. It won't restart no matter what I try and gets so hot if I try to place it on the charger. I think it's time to move on from Alta (with tiny warranty amount, about $30), but any suggestions first?

My Alta is relatively new, I've only had it for less than a month now. Whilst wearing it, it started to overheat, so much so that it gave a burning sensation against my skin. I had to take it off and it cooled down after about 5-10 minutes. However, it won't turn on now, I've tried to charge it too but it looks like it has died completely. Is there anything I can do?
same here

I just had my Alta start overheating just sitting on the couch. I noticed my arm starting to itch and the metal on the sides are hotter than hot. I removed it and set it aside but really don't know what to do on a Saturday night. I emailed customer service. There is nothing on the screen anymore... seems to be toast. The whole getting in the sun etc is not a factor here where I live on the Oregon coast. Never has gotten wet or in a sauna etc. Just a bit peeved tonight.

I have the same problem. It was outside and now it won't turn on. I have tried charging it, cooling it, waiting... nothing works. Does it cost money for it to earn fixed? I've had it for a while now and I don't think I'm under warranty anymore

That is exactly what I will be doing if indeed this replacement does the same thing the last Alta did. Keep an update if something happens to the HR.... Id be interested to know.

So my Fitbit got left in the car, in the heat which was probably about 150 degrees in the car and according to the Fitbit expert she said that was above operating temps. What should I do to make it turn on

My Alta has been doing the same since October. I have been able to "reboot" it each time until this last time. I purchased mine in March of 2016. I'm wondering if it is an issue with the Alta's that were produced during this time. I'm outside a lot and it has been a really irritating issue. However now, it will not even reboot. Any suggestions? My flex still works and I have had it since 2013.

MY alta has shut down about three times this summer. I finally realized it's happening when i take it off at the pool.it sits in my bag, where it gets too hot. It works just fine when i plug it in and hit that little button three times.

I had mine for over 2 years and this has never happened to me before I just got to13k steps ( like always) and then it got hot and never worked again. I’m just so mad that I have to get a new one now since it doesn’t wanna work anymore.

My Alta stopped working after being overheated (it was sitting in my bag by the pool for several hours). I could get the screen working when I put it on the charger, but then when I took it off it would NOT turn on at all. I contacted support and we tried to do a reset using the button on the charger, but no luck. FitBit would have replaced it if it was under warranty, but it wasn't. So...as a last resort, my husband suggested putting it in the freezer for a while. So I did (for several hours), and then tried the reset trick again -- and lo and behold, it turned back on! Not sure how long the solution will last, but for now it's back!
