Alta recording active minutes while sleeping

Hi, I’ve searched extensively but can’t get a good answer to this question. My Alta has been recording active minutes while I’m asleep.

I have tried restarting it multiple times but the problem persists. This leads me to my question: Is it possible that this isn’t a fault in my device or defective recording, but instead related to my heart rate? There does seem to be a relationship between when the sleep active minutes are recorded and when my HR jumps significantly above resting, but it only does so for short bursts. E.g. my RHR will just from an average of 59 bpm to ~90 bpm but then settles again to my average after a short time. The active minutes are recorded for longer than my heart rate is up above resting.

I ask this because, for me, there is a difference between a defective device and a quirk of biology that the Fitbit algorithm can’t recognize adequately. I don’t want to replace my device needlessly if it’s the latter.

Welcome to the Community, @Efeuer.

Thanks for troubleshooting this active minutes issue. Regarding your inquiry, I recommend checking the help article: How does my Fitbit device calculate active minutes?. If you think that you shouldn't be receiving that number of active minutes, the best way to get help for this would be to chat with us online or give us a call. Click here to get connected.

Let me know how it goes.
