Alta screen too dark to read

I'm trying to set my alta up to my iPhone but the four digit number on my tracker display is both too small and too dark to read. You can barely make out anything on the screen. Has the display failed? Can the brightness be increased? Or do I just throw it away and buy something different? I have to say, this has to be the hardest device I've every tried to set up. Sny positive advise would be appreciated

Hello @GTB954K and welcome to the Community.  I want to be positive, but the Alta is a pretty old device that was discontinued in 2019.  Here is a link to the Alta user manual.  I can't find any mention of a screen brightness control, so even if you got it set up (in a dark closet), the screen won't get any brighter.

I don't think it's worth your effort to try to set up your Alta.  Check with your local regulations about rechargeable battery disposal.  They are hazardous material where I live and can't go in regular trash.

Hi
Thanks for that.
So the lifespan of a Fitbit is clearly very short in terms of electronics.
I'll look at some other fitness trackers and see which offers the best
value particularly in terms of longevity.
