Alta shutting off

Is anyone else having issues with their Alta randomly shutting off and having to be plugged in to restart? I've had mine since Friday and have had to do it twice. Each time it's happened the battery still says it's full or mostly full. I tried calling the helpline but all I was being told to do was reset and sync. Both of which I've already done.

Same here. I almost broke down and bought the Charge 3 but just not confident enough to "waste" my $$$ again

I went for the samsung watch, never had a bit of bother with it. My
daughters Charge 3 is now shutting off.

Same here. I complained because the tracker wasn't charging properly. It was still under warranty and  a replacement was sent less than a month ago. I wore it for a day or two and it froze, like if it had no battery, until I connected it to the wall charger, when it then lit up and showed that the battery was charged. This happened a couple of times. Having contacted the Fitbit Support Team I reset it, as they suggested. It didn't work.

I complained again but now Fitbit says it's out of warranty because the warranty is for the original device. What?! Instead they offer a 25% discount on another tracker.

I hear you. It all sounds to familiar. Their customer service stinks!

Your the 3rd person that's said they liked Samsung. That's what I'm thinking too considering everything else I have is Samsung

I absolutely love everything Samsung. The only thing I don't love...is the size. I am looking for something that is about the same size as the Alta. I am still searching and trying to find us group rate. Hahaha Trying to work a little bit of magic here!

Is this why mine did something ALL NEW today? First time EVER! While charging, it got SO hot, it won't even come on anymore. Nothing works now. Not even a hard reset. Just amazingly coincidental, no word from anyone then as soon as this happens...someone appears. But what are you hear to say? You have read that we have ALL been experiencing the EXACT same troubles and issues; Many of us for years now with clear documentation. What's the word?

Uhoh Fawn! Check out the Samsung Galaxy Fit!!!

Between my wife and I we have had 8 fitbit devices (flex, charge HRs,
charge 2s, alta) and not one has reached 12 months before failing in
some way.  All the issues were commonly complained about and not one was
fixed before the next device was produced. Exactly how do you listen?????
Best Answer

To be fair Paul_p, they said they listened...not that they respond, cared, fixed, or solved problems. I didn't see anything saying they 100% backed the quality of their products (if they did, their warranty would be longer than a year) and believed in taking care of the customers who buy them. We seem to be the dummies that get distracted and jump at that 25% off the newest shiny thing that's going to last us 6 to 9 months. Bwahaaha

I'm just done.

I've had charge and charge hr prior to both altas. Then I've bought ionic (yes, i was stupid).

After ionics death (killed by update) i was lucky (?) to exchange it to versa (the shop did mistake - wrote wrong month in warranty card).

Did I mention that all they died exactly 12 month + few days after purchase, so the warranty was off?

All old devices were woking perfectly before their sudden death. But versa isnt working well from the beginning. Its HR sensor gets suddenly off (diode is still working but HR reads only "--"). Reboot or wait for few minutes usually helps (yet). Becouse of that I have sleep patterns only few days a month. All other days it is showing only fall asleep and wake up times. After a month+ its black coating / paint is starting to get off the watch body. I doubt it will still alive for next 11 month (until warranty ends), but i dont care anymore.

Im ready to purchase new devices for me, my wife and child. And now i'm listening. So it wont be fitbit for sure.

Hi my Alta shuts off and I don’t know what to do I’ve done what all of you guys have suggested I have a charger that doesn’t have a reset button so what do I do

My fitbit alta is also randomly shutting down and needs to be plugged in to restart. Battery is at full charge and as I don't use alarm functions it has no real reason battery drain or anything like that.

There's obviously a problem as so many have reported the same issue.

Lululoves_,

Ehh... Looks like another alta is almost ready to go to trash...

I've been trying to repair 3 altas with those sympthoms. Its not a battery or charge issue.

I'm sorry. Looks like You'll need a new tracker soon.

Just be carefull with ionic and versa.

Oh no! The fact that you have 3 with the same issues is dreadful.

I've only had this one since Dec 2017. I expected it to last a bit longer than it has

Heard anything weird about the Charge 3 model?

Christ, that's gotta suck. I'm angry enough that my Alta's shutting down constantly at half charge. Can only imagine how irritated you must be.

I really like the Fitbit ecosystem and its support on Windows 10. But this is a serious issue, I'd expect my watch at AT LEAST Last 4+ years of near daily use. If it's just going to fall apart then I'm better off monitoring my fitness with an app that tracks distance.

TL;DR - If I find that FitBit's newer models have the same issue or still break after a year or so. Then I'll conclude this is another anti-consumer brand with built in redundancy. If so, my family and I will shop with their competitors. No ecosystem is worth dealing with poor products and shady business practices.

I hope that's not the case. But we'll see.

As I've said before (maybe in other threads) newer models arent any better.

After both mine and my wifes alta dead 1+ year after purchase (one of them wasnt used for 8 month during this period) ive got ionic. great watch. dead after 1 year + few days. Actually i was able to repair it by avoiding its connection to fitbit services making it almost unusable but alive.

Next one was versa. This one had issues with sleep tracking from very beginnig. Later it got problems with hr readings. Didnt wait it to die completely.

But older models like charge and charge hr i've bought years ago do still work fine for my friends.

Yeah, after browsing the forums I've decided against buying from FitBit again. I'll be purchasing from some other company in the future after doing more research on what they offer. That and I heard from my mate that FitBit app development is garbage, so hopefully, these other platforms are more competent. No point making apps for such an unreliable and inconvenient brand. And even less of a reason to use their trackers as a watch.

I agree! I've been looking at the Amazfit on Amazon. Good reviews and doesn't break the bank. Debate between that and Samsung smartwatch, which is expensive but maybe in the long run isn't
