My fitbit alta was dormant for 21 months.  Now it won't charge.  Is it a lost cause?

I spoke with someone, but their suggestion had no positive result. It seems the device is unrecoverable. Perhaps the battery is no longer viable or the charging cable stopped working. It doesn’t seem to be recognized by a desktop or laptop computer.

Do you think you can shed any additional light?
